Danish Design exhibition developed for the Danish Cultural Institute in Skt. Petersburg. Exhibited at The Academy of Fine Arts, December 2017.

The essence of Danishness is our ability to open our home and invite inside. In the same spirit, we have created the exhibition The Danish Dinner, where the public is invited to participate in the aftermath of a large bohemian dinner.

The exhibition is an eclectic mix of design from different ages and styles, as the dinner table is equipped with chairs, porcelain, glasses, cutlery, lamps, decorative objects, textiles and much more.

In Italy, people spend money on clothes, cars and restaurants. In cold Denmark, you spend a large part of your income on decorating your home to perfection. Simple home because the Danes invite each other home for dinner, cook, light the candles and have fun.

Through conversations with Russian design professionals, we understand that the Russians experience Danish Design as rather underplayed with a focus on quality, materials and form.

Maybe we are not crazy, or the madness is just below the surface. As Danes, we like to be understated and all our furniture and designs must be gray. Or in tones of white, light gray and darker gray tones, and we combine materials and textures for a still life or a dream vision.

The curtain that encircles the exhibition is made of strips of transparent colored PVC. You are offered varying experiences of the many objects and the audience is encouraged to play with photographing through the different color filters. In this way, you interact with the exhibition, perhaps pull the curtain aside, and play with the optical illusion of the colors.
